Press conference
Pellicer: “We have to hold on to the slightest possibility”

The Málaga CF coach held a press conference after the 2-0 victory against CD Mirandés. “It’s very important, whatever happens, to finish well, competing like today; you have to have faith,” he stated.

“We have achieved a victory. After the Racing match, we played 10 games with five wins, three draws and two defeats. If a team is not a fighter, it doesn’t succeed. The situation is at the limit, we have a 0.01% chance, and we are hanging by a thread,” he commented. “If the players were not on that line, it would be very difficult. At least with this victory this situation is prolonged. We have a little bit and I'm going to hold on to it,” he continued.

Pellicer considers it “very important, whatever happens,” to finish well “competing like today. We have to end the season competing to the maximum as it’s key to next year's project,” he asserted, also remembering the fans: “Thank you, because many people have come here in this situation. We have to learn from the mistake in order to change, and we’re going to try to learn.”

The coach from Nules commented that “you have to put yourself in the players' shoes. Every match is a final and that generates stress and extreme situations. We’ve talked a lot about situations that must be corrected. They have to free themselves, they have shown personality. Today I have to congratulate the players for the pride they showed in a very difficult situation,” he added.

“It was a stab in the heart the other day, as the rivals managed to score, and they are undermining us on an emotional level. The dressing room is already thinking about the match in Vitoria, with a full stadium and a rival that fights to the max in a unified kick-off time. Only a victory will do. I have seen them confident of being able to compete in these two matches and get the six points,” he said about the next game. “We’re not relying on ourselves. In football, as in life, anything can happen, and we can’t lose faith. There is a minimum and we have to hold on to it,” he affirmed.

Finally, Pellicer explained that “tomorrow (Sunday) we rest, on Monday we train and have a clean week to recover.”
