Pellicer: “We are physically and mentally prepared and will give everything to win”

In the run-up to league matchday 39, the Málaga CF coach spoke to the media this Friday at La Rosaleda. “In the last seven games we are the second-best team in the category; We are going to fight,” he commented.

Before the crucial game at El Toralín, Sergio Pellicer assured that “the team is prepared on a physical and mental level, they’ve had a very good week. The lads gave their all the other day, they are at the limit, and when you stretch that limit, courage appears. When you're on the pitch you have to think that you can win. We have to focus on the positive things and go with everything we’ve got to Ponferrada,” he expressed.

Regarding the team’s absences, the coach conveyed “a great deal of confidence in the players who haven’t been able to participate in the last few games. We have found a structure in which we feel comfortable, I have confidence in the entire squad,” he stated.

The end of the competition is drawing near and Pellicer knows the tough situation the team is in. Even so, he has clear ideas: we have to win in Ponferrada. “The end is getting closer. We have to go all out. Calculations? To win. Maximum effort and concentration, focus on what each play requires. In these last blocks the team has competed well. In the last seven games we are the second-best team in the category. I want positive people by my side, being realistic and looking for solutions. We are going to fight,” he commented.

The need for victory is undeniable, as is the quality of the rival, who, despite their position in the standings, “has people with a lot of power and skill. Like the circumstances of football, nobody thought they could be in this situation, like us. That shows how complicated the division is. They are an all or nothing team, and with a minimal chance will go all out. They have one of the fastest attacks. It's very difficult to win there, out of seven victories they have achieved five at home. We have to go for the win, we have no other choice,” he said about SD Ponferradina.

Lastly, to conclude his press conference, Pellicer communicated the need to focus all efforts on our match. “We’re not depending on ourselves, but what is down to us is our match, and we have to focus on that. It’s the most difficult so far, as it’s the most imminent and because we know the results. The team has a master's degree in suffering,” he concluded.
