Pellicer: “It’s about pride and football”

The Málaga CF manager held a press conference at La Rosaleda today: “We have to find the best state of mind for each player. It’s a matter of pride and spirit,” he said.

In regard to Sunday’s rival, Pellicer was clear. “We know that every match right now is a final. We’re up against a rival looking upwards, despite their last defeat. They’re a very daring team and one of the highest scorers along with Granada. Our objective is to take each day at a time and reach the last match depending on ourselves. This long week we’ve had has been good for us to be able to convey what we do during the week in training in the match. It’s about doing, not talking,” said the coach.

“Tomorrow is the last training session and I want to have almost every player available. We need everyone and all decisions made are technical. What I see is that they want. Giving up is not in our dictionary. We have little to say and a lot to do, to seek excellence and be one of the top four in the category of what remains,” Pellicer added.

The Blue and White coach wants to have a very rapid team: “We’re here to be effective, practical and get results. We want to be a dynamic team, progress, with fast attacking and defensive transitions. And win. Winning, making the best possible decisions and not giving anything away to the rival.” The manager says nothing is lost: “We’re going to fight, give our all, heart and soul. That's what we want to convey.”

“What worries me is having the personality shown in Gijón in Albacete. We must find that line, not the one from the other day. Focus on the smallest detail and be on top of the player, as if we improve individually, we improve collectively,” continued Pellicer who appealed to the players’ pride: “We have to find the best state of mind for each player. It’s about pride and football and being better than the rival in all aspects. It’s a matter of pride and spirit.”

Finally, he talked about the arrival of Kike Pérez as the Club’s general manager. “He’s arrived here with a lot of energy and a great deal of experience, which he showed in his presentation yesterday. He’s here to help, to unite us and make decisions,” concluded Pellicer.
