Pellegrini: “We were able to turn it around as we didn’t get flustered”

The Chilean-born Blues and Whites manager, Manuel Pellegrini, spoke to the media in La Rosaleda’s press room after the Málaga-Getafe match.

Pellegrini’s statements:

“The victory is even greater for the way they did it. The team didn’t despair and we carried on looking for opportunities, none of the team got flustered and that allowed us to come back with two great goals. We had an extraordinary first half and we generated an immense amount of great football.  Luckily the goals came off, and I’m so happy for both Ruud and Julio.  We were able to turnaround the match against a great rival who played well and creatively.  But we’ve got to be more precise; there were many times in which we were three quarters of the way there.  The team’s arming-up to have its moment, we’re on the right track, and we must work hard to keep on it, but we got three goals and that’ll serve us very well.”

“I always thought it possible as we have an important potential offensive.  What I liked the most was the way we were able to turn it around as we didn’t get flustered.  An amazing goal from Baptista, is great for us as it gives us confidence to carry on working for what we’re aiming for.  The opponents are difficult and the differences are minimal. The Spanish league is very competitive, and I’m very happy with 75 per cent of what we’re doing, and I hope that the results will give us peace of mind. We have some variables and we’re looking at different technical matters, we’re going to look at the alternatives as that’s how things work.”

“Eliseu? He highlighted that crossover point in the first half; defensively he was playing very well. What we least have problems with is the defence.  Willy? Records are anecdotal; the important thing is consistency as that strengthens the dynamic of the team.”
