Pellegrini: “They were two close matches and luckily we’ve got through”
Málaga manager, Manuel Pellegrini, spoke to the media in La Rosaleda’s press room after the Copa clash against Getafe.
Pellegrini’s match
(Málaga 2-2 Getafe). “We got an advantage in the first half and we had some clear chances, Getafe didn’t bother us too much. Then we had that unlucky moment with the own goal, the sending off complicated things and in the same move they got 2 to 1, and then luckily Diego got the goal and the qualification. We had a very important rival who have got 18 points in the League and are 12th. It could’ve gone the other way with Getafe as they were two very close games and luckily we had the possibility of getting through. I didn’t see any referee influence in the decisive moments of the match.”
(Possible rival in the second round). “We never know which rival will be more difficult or easier, we’re in a rotation of squads, it was important to get through this round and it doesn’t bother us which rival we get.”
(Buonanotte’s key goal). “Diego kicks the ball very well, they also had a great free kick early on, it was down to Diego and I’m pleased for him as it’ll be a confidence boost. Little by little he’s adapting to Spanish football and that’s going to be very useful over the rest of the year.”
