Pellegrini: “Real have had a great year. They deserve to be high up the League table”

Málaga Club de Fútbol coach, Manuel Pellegrini held a press conference at La Rosaleda this afternoon following the morning training session, and analysed tomorrow’s match against Real Sociedad at the Anoeta Stadium.

Pellegrini believes the Blue and Whites’ rival has had a good season so far, and stresses the importance of tomorrow’s game: “We’re up against a good team tomorrow who has had a great year.  However in tomorrow’s match, we’re looking for four points (following the first round defeat), against a team with a very clear style of play.  They’re in such a high position in the League table as they’ve won a lot of matches, which doesn’t surprise me as they’ve got some great players.  It’s important that the coach’s philosophy and tactics were supported by the directors.”

With regards to next Tuesday’s match against Borussia, the ‘Malaguista’ coach clarifies the team’s current priority is the match at the Anoeta: “None of the players are thinking about Tuesday yet, we’re all focused on tomorrow’s match.  It’s important that we remain calm and determine the best line-up to secure a win tomorrow.  The called-up players will only be concentrating on Real Sociedad, not on Tuesday’s game.”

Manuel Pellegrini also praises the fans’ loyalty throughout the season: “The fans haven’t just got behind us now, they’ve been with us all season.  Their passion and loyalty to the team keeps getting stronger, and every one of our followers plays a crucial part in the team’s achievements.  Their support really is immeasurable.”

Finally, the Chilean-born coach describes Pedro Morales’ input as very positive: “He played a fantastic match against Rayo Vallecano, which I hope he’ll do again.  I appreciate all the hard work every player puts in all year round in maintaining our consistently high standard, despite the number of absences.”
