Pellegrini: “I’m very happy with the match”

Málaga coach Manuel Pellegrini held a press conference following the match against Levante, in the press area in La Rosaleda.

Statements from Pellegrini:

“The team played a very full game, I was very pleased with it.  We had complete dominance and several goal chances in the first half.  We created more space in the second half, and I was happy with the team’s attack and defence.  We did our best to get on the scoreboard”.

“We thought it very important to approach Levante from the outside, which is where Joaquín and Eliseu came in.  Luckily we’ve had good results at home, and I’m really pleased with today’s game.  I would’ve liked to secure a win earlier on, by 2-0 which is a great morale motivator.  A draw would have been unfair.  It’s always important to win, and I like to do this with the right mentality”.

“I’ve said it many times before, I never have a fixed target before a match.  Levante has been a good example of this.  We’ve also been in Europe several times and always try to do the best we can.  We’re just concentrating on winning the next game.  Recio?  We needed to change our attacking play, and although he didn’t get to play today, he, like the rest of the players, knows the important thing is the team spirit, to enable us to get to the top”.
