Numancia named as first Cup rival

Málaga CF will face CD Numancia in the round of 32 tie of the Copa de S.M. El Rey.

The draw corresponding to the round of 32 in the Copa del Rey 17/18 took place this Thursday morning at the Luis Aragonés room in the RFEF’s Football City. Málaga CF will kick off their participation in the Cup competition against Numancia, the first leg of which is taking place on 25th October in Soria, and the return leg at La Rosaleda in the last week of November (Wednesday 29th).

Numancia, a brother club

The team from Soria currently competes in the Liga 1|2|3, having completed an excellent start to the season, tied at the top of the Second Division with 11 points after six matches.

It was the 1998/99 season when Málaga CF and CD Numancia managed to jointly ascend to the First Division of Spanish football. Both entities, thanks in particular to the cordiality that arose between both sets of fans, enjoyed a special union by joining ties that have remained over time.

Nearly 20 years after that wonderful memory, both clubs will be seeking a place in the last 16 of the Cup, the draw of which will take place on Tuesday 5th December at 13:00.
