Nati: “We have to reinforce what we do well”

The Málaga Femenino coach analyses the 3-2 defeat in Granada, saying she is “very proud” of her players. “It’s about continuing to improve and grow”, she said.

Olmedo and María Cortés’ injuries

“They were two obligatory changes we had to make, due to injury. They couldn’t carry on, which conditioned the game plan we had somewhat. Gabi also didn’t feel well, she was absolutely exhausted”.

Conditioned changes

“María Ruiz wasn’t injured, what we sought to do with the substitutions was to make sure they didn’t do us any damage. We had to adopt more containment due to the availability of players we had. We looked to follow our game play, compete, and there are three set piece actions that we need to keep improving for the next game, to be able to secure the three points”.

Positive assessment of the defeat

“We’re very happy, as at no time did we stop believing. At 0-2 we suffered a harsh blow, Málaga showed that they can compete and believe in their work. We knew that, whatever happened, we were going to get better. There’s no sadness or frustration, we have to reinforce what we do well. We went there to compete, in a tough away game, against the leader. We came out even stronger and from tomorrow we’ll focus on the next match against a very important rival. I’m very proud of them and it’s about continuing to improve and grow”.

Continue believing

“I remain with the hard work of the whole team, the return of Ruth, Natalia’s debut in the starting line-up with a goal and assist. In regard to Ale, at 18 years of age, she has adapted to the competition and demanding nature of these games. I congratulate Granada for the win. Now we have another final coming up, against La Solana, and we’re going for +3”.
