Narrow defeat in Andorra (1-0)

Málaga CF suffered a minimal defeat at the Estadi Nacional d’Andorra against FC Andorra (1-0). A goal from Bundu (71’) tipped the balance.

On a chilly afternoon at the Estadi Nacional d'Andorra, more than 150 Malaguistas cheered on their team. This was the Blue and Whites’ first ever visit to FC Andorra. Pellicer selected the following starting-11: Rubén Yáñez; Delmás, Ramalho, Burgos, Juande, Cristian; Ramon, Febas, Luis Munoz; Junior Lake and Chavarria.

Andorra tried to take the initiative by taking possession of the ball during the first half. However, the Blue and Whites effectively neutralised the locals’ attacking attempts, without any clear chances in Rubén Yáñez’s area, who blocked several long balls without too much trouble.

Málaga waited patiently for their moment and, in the final minutes of the first half, approached the local area more frequently. The clearest occasion was a lateral attempt by Ramón that came close to surprising Ratti.

At the start of the second half, Pellicer introduced a double change to the line-up. Escassi (reaching 100 official matches with MCF) and Rubén Castro came on in place of Juande and Luis Muñoz.

Around an hour into play, Fran Sol came on for Chavarría. Subsequently, in 71’, following an attacking transition, Bundu put FC Andorra in the lead with a powerful, tight shot against which Rubén Yáñez could do nothing (1-0).

With 15 minutes to go, Álex Gallar and Juvenil player, Álex Calvo replaced Lago Junior and Ramalho, completing the five substitutions.

Málaga searched for an equaliser until the end, but it wasn’t to be, and the match ended in a 1-0 loss. Next Friday, Málaga CF are away to Villarreal CF 'B' on matchday 35 of LaLiga SmartBank.
