Muñiz will lead the way

The architect of the last promotion to the First Division, Juan Ramón López Muñiz, returns to Málaga CF to direct the team for the next two seasons. The new Blue and Whites’ coach will be presented today at La Rosaleda at 13:00.

Juan Ramón López Muñiz returns to Málaga. The coach, who achieved the last First Division promotion in the 2007/08 season, will head up the team again in the fight to return to LaLiga Santander.

A specialist in promotion, something he did in a superb way only two seasons ago with Levante, a great connoisseur of the category and, above all, a recognised Malaguista comes to the bench at La Rosaleda with a project for the next two seasons.

Fourth stage with Málaga CF

The first time was in the 2003/04 season, in the First Division, serving as second coach of the first team. In the 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons in the Second Division, after setting up a team in a complicated economic situation, Juan Ramón López Muñiz took Málaga CF to the elite with players including Weligton, Eliseu and Jesús Gámez who later made a career in the top flight.

In 2009/10, he returned to the Club in another difficult situation. Málaga CF managed to reach the last match of the First Division with the challenge of clinching at least a draw against Real Madrid to secure salvation. The end is known by all, in another historic feat with a goal from Duda which will forever remain in the memory of every Malaguista.

Now, again faced with a challenge and with the experience, work and love for these colours, Juan Ramón López Muñiz returns home. Welcome to your Málaga, Míster!
