The Málaga CF goalkeeper is immersed in the fight for the Zamora Trophy with just 18 goals conceded in 25 LaLiga 1|2|3 games up to now.
Munir Mohand Mohamedi has become the Malaguista Wall. Surrounded by one of the best defensive schemes in the competition, the Blue and White keeper has managed to keep a clean sheet, practically, in half of the games played (12 out of 25). Without going any further, in the last eight matches he’s kept a clean sheet on five occasions.
Two great runs
Up until the goal conceded last weekend against Córdoba CF, Munir accumulates more than four matches without letting in a goal away from La Rosaleda (Real Oviedo, Real Zaragoza, CD Tenerife and Rayo Majadahonda). He didn’t concede an away goal in three months, since the visit to RCD Mallorca, totalling 438’ with a clean sheet away from home.
In addition, in the first stretch of the season, the Moroccan international keeper also accumulated another streak of four matches without conceding a goal, against AD Alcorcón, Córdoba CF, Rayo Majadahonda and CD Numancia. Two great runs that keep him immersed in the fight for the Zamora Trophy.
Decisive saves
Many of his interventions have been key in scoring points this season, some of them selected amongst the best of the matchday by LaLiga 1|2|3, as he did in the final part of the match against Heliodoro Rodríguez López, or the one-on-one with Borja Valle, of RC Deportivo, in the last home game.
Player of the month
Munir was named best player of LaLiga 1|2|3 in September, due to his great performance. A prize he was awarded by Club adviser, Abdullah Ben Barek, in front of thousands of fans at La Rosaleda stadium.
Much of the excellent level shown by Málaga CF’s starting goalkeeper is down to the competition in the dressing room. Pawel Kieszek, Axel Werner, and Andrés Prieto in the first round, have all contributed to improve Munir’s performance, who has the young Toni Mengual as goalkeeping coach.
