Manel Casanova arrived at Málaga CF in the 2011/12 season as head of the MCF Academy. Thanks to him, important, promising players from the Blue and Whites’ youth categories moved up to the first team in recent years.
Casanova’s body will be taken to Barcelona today, where it will be veiled tomorrow, Tuesday at 10:00 at the Ronda Dalt funeral home in the Ciudad Condal, and later buried at 15:00. Representatives from the Club will be attending the funeral.
Today at 16:30, the Club will hold a minute’s silence at La Rosaleda stadium, with the presence of players and coaching teams from all Academy squads, and Club employees. In addition, training has been suspended today at the MCF Academy as a sign of mourning.
The first team will also remember Casanova during tomorrow’s match against Granada, with the players wearing black armbands at Nuevo Los Cármenes Stadium. Later at home in the run-up to #MálagaEibar, corresponding to LaLiga matchday 1 at La Rosaleda, a minute’s silence will be held.
