Mikel was called-up for Venezuela’s comfortable victory

The Málaga CF defender played the full 90 minutes in the game against Bolivia (5-0), and Rosales was in reserve. Ricca didn’t participate in Uruguay’s victory against Ecuador.

The Venezuelan team abandoned the red light of the South American qualifying group for the 2018 World Cup, after an overwhelming win in the early hours of yesterday morning (European time) against Bolivia. Mikel Villanueva played the whole match that was, it turned out, to be decided within 10 minutes when ‘La Vinotino’ started to dominate the scoreboard by getting two quick goals.

Federico Ricca’s Uruguay also won their match against Ecuador and they are now second placed in the group with 23 points, one less than Brazil. The Málaga CF defender remained on the bench for the game.
