Curiosities | Historical anecdotes
- After the First Division competition came to an end in 1952/53, CD Málaga coach, Helenio Herrera moved to Deportivo to head up the team in the promotion stage to the First Division.
- The legendary Juan Arza, CD Málaga player in the 1942/43 campaign, was also coach of Deportivo de La Coruña. A similar case was that of Carlos Torres, who played for CD Málaga and was also a player and coach with Deportivo.
The first MCF-Deportivo
On 5th March 2000, the first Málaga CF-Deportivo de La Coruña clash took place, corresponding to the 27th First Division match of 1999/00. Málaga CF welcomed the category leaders (who ending up champions), and won by 1-0 with an early goal from Darío Silva. The match was marked by injuries suffered by Malaguista players, including Edgar, who was unable to play any more games that season.
