Marcelo Romero and the Club agree the coach will not continue in charge of the first team

Málaga CF and the coach have decided, by mutual agreement, that he will not continue heading up the first team. The Club would like to thank Marcelo Romero for his dedication, honesty and effort for the colours and the Club to which he will continue to be associated, and where he will always call home.

Coach, Marcelo Romero states: “I’m grateful for the opportunity I’ve had to lead my ‘home’ team, and I would like to thank Sheikh Al Thani and his family, as well as sports director, Francesc Arnau for his support. I would also like to extend special thanks to all the members of the coaching team, medics, players, staff members and the fans. I’m a Malaguista, and although I was born in Uruguay, I also consider myself a Malagueño. I wish the team all the best for the future, and I will continue to support Málaga CF as another Malaguista. Vamos Málaga!”.

Clever Marcelo ‘Gato’ Romero Silva (4/7/1976, Montevideo, Uruguay) has been part of the first team’s coaching team for the past three seasons, until last December when he took the reins of Málaga CF as head coach, following the resignation of Juande Ramos.

The former Málaga CF player for six seasons has been an example of honesty and love for the colours during his time as coach, in which he took a step up and always showed he was at the disposal of the Club. From now on, in mutual agreement with the entity, he will continue to be linked with Málaga CF within the structure of the Club.

Málaga CF would like to thank Marcelo Romero for his effort and professionalism whilst in charge of the first team, as well as his way of feeling the ‘Malaguismo’ and the colours of the team he calls his home.
