Málaga’s great set pieces give them a win over Córdoba (0-3)

Málaga Club de Fútbol and Córdoba Club de Fútbol played the friendly at El Arcángel stadium.

The effectiveness of the set pieces has been key in Wednesday night’s friendly between Málaga Club de Fútbol and Córdoba Club de Fútbol.  Manuel Pellegrini’s squad scored on three occasions thanks to Apoño’s penalty; Kris, who shot the ball in after a free kick by Apoño; and Sergio Sánchez, who scored with a header after Buonanotte’s corner.

With a Malagista teamed formed of the players who are not usually in the starting eleven, Pellegrini’s squad carried out the perfect match against Córdoba who are desperately battling to move into the First Division.  They too put out the players who are not usually in the initial line-ups, including nine new players.  For their part, Málaga made two substitutions: Recio and Jesús Gámez replaced youth players Samu and Victor Ruiz on the El Arcángel pitch.

In summary, Málaga had the vast majority of opportunities throughout this friendly in terms of goal chances and possession, even though all of their goals came thanks to set pieces.
