Málaga-Lugo, kilometre 12

Málaga CF continues to make La Rosaleda a fortress at the start of this 21/22 season. Together, the team and the fans achieved a narrow but very fair victory against Lugo.

We look back at some of the highlights of yesterday’s 1-0 win against the Galician rival at La Rosaleda in our usual kilometre:

Genaro, this time yes

After the controversy following his ‘no goal’ in Huesca that could have led Málaga to victory at El Alcoraz, the Sevilla-born midfielder scored a superb goal worth three points this time around. As well as his tireless work on the pivot together with Escassi, Genaro is making an increasing number of arrivals to the area as the matches progress.

Víctor GP

The Blue and White number ‘2’ converts his right wing into a highway. In defence he’s expeditious, fast and effective. On the attack he’s dizzying and daring. His assist for Genaro from the wing got the fans on their feet. He could even have made it 2-0 with a cross shot that grazed the post. Victor's level is stratospheric, it’s like he’s on a motorbike!

Unbeaten

MCF have accumulated five games on the bounce without defeat, achieving two victories and three draws on the last five matchdays of the competition with a remarkable level of gameplay. In addition, at home, the lads have secured four victories and two draws in six games, conceding just one goal. 540 minutes of play! A total of 17 points in the pot and moving up the standings.

First-class fans

Nearly 15.000 Malaguistas congregated at La Rosaleda. Similar numbers to the last home match against Zaragoza at Martiricos, with the continuous chants from fans resounding throughout the stadium for 90 minutes. After the final whistle players thanked the ‘lungs’ of La Rosaleda, the ‘Fondo Sur 1904’ located in the Gol Bajo section, for their passion. You are first-class fans.
