On a significant date, the third anniversary of the death of Viberti, we remember a great rivalry between the ‘Malaguistas’ and ‘Granadinos’, particularly in the 70s, where the Argentine number ‘5’ was the icon of the Blue and Whites’ Club.
CD Málaga - Granada CF, in the First Division
There have only been six matches between these two teams at La Rosaleda in the First Division, which took place over seven years (1968-1975)
The first of these was played in the 1968-1969 season, ending in a 0-0 draw.
The rest of the matches took place in CD Málaga’s ‘Golden Five Years’ (1970-1975) with a total of three victories and two draws for CD Málaga.
As CD Málaga at La Rosaleda, six matches were played, resulting in three wins and three draws, with a total of seven goals scored and two conceded.
The 1-1 draw between these rivals which took place in the 1974-75 season, was detrimental to CD Málaga, as they were relegated to the Second Division (tied on points with Granada, but with goal-average not going in the Blue and Whites’ favour).
