Málaga 18/19 from the statistical perspective of BeSoccer

Looking at numerous statistical aspects, as analysed by BeSoccer through ProFootballDB, Juan Ramón López Muñiz’s team is one of the most effective in LaLiga 1|2|3.

The Málaga-based company and official Club sponsor, BeSoccer, through its statistical tool, ProFootballDB brings us some highly interesting data on the progress of Muñiz’s team. Without doubt, the defensive aspect stands out as the Blue and Whites have only conceded 23 goals in 32 games, but behind this figure there are many others.

Style of gameplay endorsed by the numbers

  • If something is clear within the Malaguista squad, it’s that the players know how to exploit and make the most of their goals in favour. However, before going into more depth, we must talk about Málaga CF’s style of play and how it translates into points. So much so, the Blue and Whites have accumulated 43 points when they’ve had less possession than the rival, and 12 if we take into account the match against Sporting, when ball possession was favourable.

Making the most of the goals

  • The dossier provided by BeSoccer, undertaken before the match against Sporting de Gijón, reveals that each goal scored by Málaga CF is worth 1.69 points, meaning we are the top team in LaLiga 1|2|3 that makes the best use of the goals scored. However, in addition, there’s another stat that shows how well MCF operates in other scenarios; they have scored the second highest number of points shooting equal or less than the rival, with 19 points.

The defence also attacks

  • The BeSoccer report highlights the contribution of the defenders to the Malaguista attack, with seven goals netted by defenders (four by Ricca and one each for Cifu, Juankar and Pau). But it’s not only the high collaboration of the Malaguista defenders, it’s also their effectiveness; they just need 7,86 shots at goal to score. This makes Málaga CF the absolute leader of LaLiga 1|2|3 in the effectiveness of the defenders in front of goal.

Top-3 European

  • Málaga CF, within the European panorama (major First and Second Division leagues) is the team that best makes the most of their goals. Averaging one goal in favour and 0,7 against per game, making a total of 1,74 per match. Only Paris FC in the French Second Division and Nice in the First beat the Blue and Whites in this regard, with 1,41 and 1,72 goals per match respectively. Knowing how to play and score on the wire with narrow results, is a positive value for Muñiz's men.
