Luis Hernández: “For 2020 I ask that Málaga can smile again”

The Blue and White central defender reviews the year and talks about the upcoming rival, Real Oviedo: “It will be a very difficult match against a complicated rival fighting for the same as us”.

Year in review

“All reviews have to make a comparison with the sporting situation the Club is experiencing at all times. We bring an end to what has been a good 2019 with the arrival of the coach, and we were a step away from achieving our objective of promotion. It was a wonderful moment, despite not reaching our goal. It was a day of unity with the fans, one of the most beautiful days a player could have experienced. This year we started a new season in summer with a number of adversities. We have to keep in mind that this is a year of survival for the Club. We are aware of the difficulties we’ve had, how the Club has weakened with the sale of important players for us, leaving us with a squad of just 17 professional players. The annual review has to be linked to that situation. We must be realistic and know that Málaga has to survive this season. The team is giving their all at all times, a reliable team that competes to win every match”.

Back to work

“After the Christmas break I’ve come back to training full of enthusiasm, determined for the team to return to a good performance level. Winning the three points on Sunday is crucial for us, so we can maintain the same line of work and continue to grow”.

Match against Real Oviedo

It will be a very difficult match against a complicated rival fighting for the same as us. It’ll be a highly competitive game, as it was in the first round of the competition. I’m sure it will be tough, but the team will go for the three points as we always do. We’ll attempt to impose our game play for 90 minutes and remain superior to the rival in order to win”.

Wish for 2020

“I wish the Malaguistas a very happy 2020. The fans are a fundamental part of this Club. The union between the fans and the players is essential to the Club’s survival and they know it. They encourage us and spur us on. For 2020 I ask that Málaga can smile again, that we’re able to move the current sporting situation forward and those in charge resolve the financial issues so the Club has no problems”.
