Luck continues to turn its back on Málaga CF (0-1)

The Blue and Whites had control of the majority of the match and deserved more, however the result went in Villarreal’s favour thanks to a Tissone own goal.

The pitch at La Rosaleda was in mint condition, thanks to the hard work of everyone involved over just five days to make sure the miracle happened on time.

‘How would Málaga CF perform tonight?’ was the question on everyone’s lips, with the return of Weligton and the incorporation of Juanpi in the starting-11.  The ‘Malaguistas’ showed personality from the off, and in the first few minutes had several approaches and corners as they began to surround the rival area.

However the goal is still pending this season, and despite the good performance, the locals couldn’t find the net.  Horta had a chance to open the scoring at the far post following assistance from Duda, but it wasn’t to be.

For their part, Villarreal waited for their chance at glory, and it looked as though it would be Baptistao who would put the visitors in the lead, however Kameni put paid to their hopes and the scoreboard remained level.

The second half started in much the same way, and Javi Gracia decided to step up the attack by bringing on Duje Cop.

Luck hasn’t been on Málaga CF’s side so far this season, and a dubious foul in minute 27 was given by the referee at the side of the area, and an own goal by Tissone soon followed.

Against adversity the team rose up and went all out for the remainder of play.  A recently introduced Tighadouini launched a promising shot at the target that was sent to a corner.  A goal looked on the cards, and Charles came close to an equaliser with a header.

Málaga CF deserved more from this match, but must wait until another day to clinch the first win of the season.
