Lucas Piazon: “The match against Athletic is just as important as Porto”

Brazilian-born Lucas Piazon, who made his League debut with Málaga CF against Levante UD last Saturday, held a press conference before today’s training session got underway.

For Piazon: “Coming to Málaga CF was the best option.  It was a completely different atmosphere at Chelsea as there was a lot of pressure, and much more difficult for a young player like me to get the chance to play football.  Málaga CF was definitely the best opportunity for me.  I’m really keen to get out on the pitch, and improve as much as I can.”

The midfielder will get the chance to grow as a footballer at the ‘Malagueño’ Club: “The style of play, focusing on possession and not so much on force…Spanish football is similar to how we play in Brazil.  I really enjoy playing this type of game, and feel much more comfortable on the pitch.”

Piazon is looking forward to getting the chance to play more minutes in the next League match, which is just as important as the Champions League: “We’re doing well in the BBVA League, currently in fourth place, but we’ve got several direct rivals all fighting for the top spots.  Saturday’s match is just as important as the match against Porto, against a big team with quality players.”

The Brazilian-born player has adapted to the team and city very well: “Málaga city is fantastic, it’s sunny, not too cold, I love the food, the places…”
