Last touchstone at Carranza (1-0)

Málaga CF played Cádiz CF a week before LaLiga Smart Bank officially gets underway. The locals secured a narrow victory with an early goal from Caye Quintana (6’).

The Estadio Ramón de Carranza was the scene of Málaga CF’s last friendly, and Cádiz CF’s presentation in front of their fans, before the start of LaLiga Smart Bank.

In regard to the game, the home side remained insistent in the search for a goal from the outset and took the lead in minute six with a goal from Caye Quintana (1-0). The early goal didn’t intimidate the Blue and Whites who tried to control the pace of play and ball possession. The score remained at 1-0 at the half-time whistle.

In the opening stages of the second half, both sides shared possession in midfield. The referee sent off Malaguista coach, Víctor Sánchez del Amo in 57’ and Cádiz player Jose Mari in 67’, both with red cards. Málaga made some changes bringing on Ontiveros, Boulahroud and Okazaki to blatantly launch into the attack. The Blue and Whites – on this occasion in navy blue in the debut of the away jersey – generated various dangerous goal opportunities, a long shot from Ontiveros that hit the crossbar was the most promising (71’). Despite the Malaguistas’ insistence, the final result stayed at 1-0.
