Koné will join Burkina Faso for the Africa Cup

Bakary Koné has been called-up for a preparation stage with his home country, ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations, taking place in Gabon in 2017.

The Malaguista central defender will be in training for the Africa Cup with Burkina Faso, with the tournament taking place between 14th January and 5th February 2017 in Gabon.  Bakary Koné will join his national teammates ahead of the tournament, from 27th December in Morocco.

Burkina Faso, with Koné in the ranks, was the runner-up of the 2013 Africa Cup.  The team is in Group A of the competition, with the following match schedule in the first stage:

  • Burkina Faso vs Cameroon (14th January Stadium Libreville)
  • Gabon vs Burkina Faso (18th January, Stadium Libreville)
  • Guinea-Bissau vs Burkina Faso (22nd January, Stadium Franceville)
