Kilometre 39: Get innnnnnnn!

The team claimed a much-needed victory from the #MálagaDépor clash on Wednesday.

There were multiple highlights from Málaga CF’s crucial 1-0 win at La Rosaleda against RC Deportivo. Check them out:

Decisive Hicham

The North African winger from the reserve team joined the match in the second half and went all out on the Blue and White attack. Powerful in open spaces, he exploited his best skills and scored the victory goal. Speed, power and definition to celebration his first and most valuable goal this Liga SmartBank season.

Captain celebrates 100 games

In just three seasons, Adrián González has reached 100 official matches with Málaga CF. An unmistakable sign of consistency for the captain on the pitch and in the dressing room. He played 31 games in 17/18 (29 in LaLiga Santander – three goals - and two in the Copa del Rey – one goal), 40 matches in 18/19 (10 goals) and 20, including yesterday’s this 19/20 season (six goals).

Five consecutive matches with a clean sheet!

MCF’s stats in defence improve with every match. Munir, ever closer to winning the ‘Zamora’ Trophy, has reached five games on the bounce without conceding a goal. Since Zarfino’s goal in minute 64 of #MálagaExtremadura, the Melilla-born goalkeeper hasn’t conceded a goal in 476 minutes (without counting the typically long stoppage times).

Seven consecutive matches scoring points!

The post COVID-19 stats are getting better all the time. Forgetting the setback at home against Huesca on the return of the competition, Pellicer’s Málaga has avoided defeat in all the subsequent games. Two wins at La Rosaleda, against Girona FC and yesterday against RC Deportivo, together with five draws (four with a clean sheet) perfectly summarise the keys to the team having conceded the fewest goals in LaLiga SmartBank. Solid.

Pellicer’s courage

When you’re playing for your life, players have to be very well-positioned on the pitch to have seven seniors and four reserve team and juvenil players out there, in the case of Ismael Casas, for a good part of the match. The commitment to the MCF Academy, which Pellicer knows so well during his successful stage as training coach, is the main present and future heritage of the Blue and White first team.
