Kilometre 3: Mirandés-Málaga

In the second away game of the season, the Blue and Whites achieved their first win of the campaign. Three points, three goals, good sensations and an eagerness to continue growing.

#MirandésMálaga left us numerous highlights to look at in our Blue and White kilometre. Let’s go!

First three goals, first three points

After two games with no goals, Málaga CF scored their first of the season. Goals from Javi Jiménez, Rubén Castro and Fran Sol gave Pablo Guede’s team their first three points of LaLiga SmartBank 22/23. A goal for every point to continue growing as a team.

Fourth time lucky at Anduva

Following a draw and two defeats, the Blue and Whites achieved their first victory at the Municipal de Anduva. After the Cup clash in 2015, both sides have faced one another in four consecutive seasons since 2019/20, and this year we won!

Don Rubén Castro Martín

The Malaguista striker did what he’s been doing for 22 seasons: scored a goal. This consistency led him to score his first goal of the season, and his first defending the Málaga CF colours. With this goal, Rubén is eight away from Nino, the all-time highest scorer in the Second Division and two from Zarra as the top national scorer in Spanish professional football (First and Second Divisions). Here’s to many more celebrations, Rubén!

Javi Jiménez and the law of the ‘ex’

The left-back played a great match at the Municipal de Anduva. After trying his luck with a powerful shot from distance, that Ramón Juan deflected to a corner, he took advantage of a counterattack to score his first goal as a professional. With his right foot and apologising to his old fans, Javi Jiménez is the first Malaguista scorer of the season.

Mr Assist? Álex Gallar

The Malaguista number ‘11’ enjoyed his second consecutive place in the starting line-up. Álex Gallar played a great game in Anduva. He piled the pressure on, fought and had a direct impact on the result. Initially from a set piece, Álex served up a superb lateral free kick for Rubén Castro to score the 0-2. Subsequently, in the 76th minute, he enabled Fran Sol to counter the local goal scored just two minutes earlier. Two assists and a lot of football from the number ‘11’.
