The 2-2 draw between Málaga CF and CD Mirandés had numerous highlights that we review here in our usual ‘kilometre’:
Captain returns and scores
Following his absence through injury, Adrián returned to the Malaguista 11. The Blue and White captain, working alongside Juanpi, scored the initial goal of the match from the penalty spot. A consummate specialist from the 11-metre mark, the number ‘8’ has now scored four goals in LaLiga SmartBank 19/20. Also, it was MCF’s 250th goal in the team’s Second Division history.
Sadiku, close to the 10
Tireless and a fighter. The Albanian striker didn’t stop in his attempts to get a goal, and converted the 2-1 in the second half with a superb right-footed shot at the target. Sadiku, with nine goals in 25 matches, is one away from double digits and matching the goals scored last season by Blanco Leschuk.
Hicham and Luis Muñoz, high performance
They were the two players selected by Pellicer in the starting-11 wearing higher numbers over ‘25’, that is, from the reserve team. The Moroccan winger was a dagger on the wing and assisted Sadiku in scoring the team’s second goal. The defender, acting as a defensive pivot, meanwhile, showed his vast technical-tactical skills bringing balance and quality to the wide area.
Pellicer’s seal
The coach brings the rock and roll to the game, in a football sense. Following two games, in which we’ve seen glimpses of his method, in his third match at the helm we saw a Málaga with his stamp on the game. More vertical with the ball and piling the pressure on upfront without the ball, generating opportunities with quick transitions and with a wide strategic variety, in regard to lateral free kicks and corners. In musical terms, pure rock.
Nine and rising
MCF have accumulated seven draws and two victories out of the last nine matches in LaLiga SmartBank. At home, they kicked off the run with a 3-3 draw against Elche and later defeated Tenerife (2-0), drew with Lugo (1-1), earned three points against Ponferradina (1-0) and secured a 2-2 draw with Mirandés. Away from home, the Blue and Whites have obtained four consecutive draws. Three by 0-0 against Numancia, Extremadura and Fuenlabrada, plus the 1-1 in Oviedo to kick off 2020.
