Juande had a few words for the media present at the team's return to work. After the first session of the pre-season, held on the main pitch at the Federación Malagueña de Fútbol ground, the Córdoba-born defender stated that he has returned with “very good feelings.”
“The new teammates are very excited, they’ve fit in pretty well. The players from the reserve team are really looking forward to it, they already started last week. They have been fighting to earn their place and whenever they get the chance to be here it’s very exciting for them. Those of us who continue from last year are eager for this season to be different. We have a young group, with a lot of enthusiasm and a desire to get going,” said the Blue and White '5'.
Juande stated that a team is formed from the pre-season and he’s confident that this will happen: “The first week is always about making contact. We haven't formed a team yet, we've only been there for a day. During the pre-season we will do group dynamics so that we all fit in and form a great team. We have to have a feeling of belonging to Málaga.”
On a personal level, “it has been a quiet summer” for Juande. “I have focused on disconnecting, on being with my family and friends. Now I can’t wait to get back. After some time you want to get back into the routine,” he added.
Regarding the objectives that the team has for the 2023/2024 season, Juande has shown conviction and clarity: “We are going to set ourselves short-term goals. We are going to focus on preparing as well as possible during the pre-season. We are going to be ambitious, but we want short-term goals. We want to arrive in the best conditions for the first match.”
