José Rodríguez; Blue and Whites’ MVP of #MálagaAlavés

The Málaga CF midfielder is now focused on the upcoming match against Leganés: “We must win this direct duel as the teams coming up afterwards are going to be extremely tough”.

Good second half

“It’s a bitter pill to swallow for us, particularly with the way in which we lost. We must continue performing the way we did in the second half, as I think we did very well. It’s also important to maintain calm with the coach as he’s only just arrived, but I think we’re already seeing things he’s being trying to instil in us. We need to win matches, which at the end of the day, is what will keep us in the First Division”.

Bad luck

“In the first half, we weren’t at our best, we weren’t tight upfront or aggressive. In the second half however, we were far superior over Alavés, and when they were down to 10 men, we really piled the pressure on. En-Nesyri and Sandro both had close calls, but unfortunately the ball didn’t go in. I don’t know why we couldn’t convert our opportunities, when the rival scored two goals from two chances”.

Message to the fans

“It’s important to stay realistic, not focus so much on looking up, but concentrating on salvation as soon as possible. I don’t think we’ll have too many problems, other teams are in a worse situation than us. The fans want things to be a little bit calmer in that respect, although we’re aware of the difficult situation we’re in”.

Numerous chances

“The dressing room is angry at the way in which we lost. This match was similar to the clash with Espanyol, we generated numerous opportunities and were unable to score. I thought En-Nesyri had scored, and then at the last minute, Edgar got the winning goal”.

Leganés

“Yes, we absolutely have to win as the teams coming up afterwards are going to be extremely tough. We must win this direct duel”.

MVP

“I would like to thank the fans for choosing me as man of the match after everything we’ve gone through. I ask the fans to stay calm, as we’re going to get out of this situation and move forward. Many thanks again”.
