Jony: “Winning is always important, so we leave here happy”
The winger, who played his first minutes in Algeciras, praised the good work of the forwards: “The more confidence they have, the better the team will do.”
First match of the pre-season
“These matches help us to reach full fitness, to get a feel for the team, to adapt to the group and what the coach requests of us. They’re not about coming to any conclusions. It’s important to gain the rhythm as soon as possible. We still need to adapt to the style of play the coach wants. The team competed well, and didn’t relax at any moment. We tried to convey on the pitch what we’ve been working on all week with the coach. Winning is always important, even a friendly, so we leave here happy.”
Goals
“This is in relation to the level of our forwards. These pre-season games are also important for them, to get the feel of play before the League season kicks off, and to gain confidence. The more confidence our forwards have, the better the team will do.”
Feelings
“I know I can bring a lot more, but we’ve had an intense week of work and my legs feel quite heavy. The truth is I felt comfortable on the pitch, but not as much as I’d expected. Certain things the coach asked of me I tried to do. I didn’t have my best day, but it’s the first match. The important thing is to get a feel for it and regain fitness.”
League debut
“Every match is going to be difficult. We’re kicking off against Osasuna, who return to the First Division hoping to remain in the elite, so I’m sure they’ll give us a very tough game at our home ground.”
