Joaquín: “The expulsion broke-up the game and it seems a bit rigorous as it wasn’t just Willy”

Málaga players Isco, Gámez and Joaquín spoke to the media in the Mized Zone after the match against Levante.

Statements:

Isco:
“It’s not been our best day and they knew how to take advantage of the mistakes we made.  The expulsion overshadowed play.  In addition, this goal came on the back of a rebound.  They made it very difficult for us from the outset and they did well to create the chances they did.”

Jesús Gámez:
“At the beginning of the match we were dominating the ball, but with some moves we weren’t expecting it went to 3-0, and the only thing we could do was to work hard to make sure they didn’t get another one.  We dominated the second half and we had some chances.

“With 2-0 we went on the war-path and moved forward, but then it got to 3-0.  Every time they arrived they scored and they took full advantage of their on-form play.”

Joaquín:
“We got beaten by the game, with 1-0 and Willy’s expulsion, which seems a bit rigorous as he wasn’t alone, it all spiralled downhill in the first half.  In the first half we tried to ensure the gap on the scoreboard wouldn’t get wider, and looked for chances, but it wasn’t possible in such a complicated game as this and with 3-0 and a man out from the first half.  Now we’ve got to get to thinking about the next match against Real Madrid.”
