Joaquín: "Neither us nor Valencia will settle for a draw”

Málaga Club de Fútbol’s midfielder, Joaquín Sánchez, spoke to the media in the Ciudad de Málaga stadium this morning, ahead of today’s training session.

Statements from Joaquín

(Personal) "I think I performed pretty well in Pamplona.  After such a long time off the pitch, it’s always tough at the start, but I felt good throughout the match, on a difficult, water-laden pitch”.

“I was training during the week, and didn’t think I’d be included in the line-up.  Once the coach made his decision, I worked as hard as I could to help the team in this final stage of the season, trying to gain points on a difficult pitch like the Reyno de Navarra”.

(Valencia) "It’s such an important match, both because of the rival and how much we need the points.  We know that anything can happen in football, and they are a rival who’ve been in the top spots of the League all season.  Right now, it’s our most important game, and we’re looking for a home win, maintaining our style of play at La Rosaleda”.

"They’re a team that always defends well, tactically very impressive, and with players who create a lot of danger for their rivals.  Neither us nor Valencia will settle for a draw”.

“We’re focusing on the fight to the final.  Like every match against Valencia, this one will be special, for the affection I have for the Club, and my friends and former colleagues there.  I hope it’ll be a special match, but that Málaga come out victorious”.

(Fans) "The fans have been supporting us all year, cheering us on in the stadium.  We never need to ask anything from them, as they’ve always been there for us.  They’ll help us to win this home game, which is vital in our fight to qualify for Champions”.
