The game kicked off with a well-positioned Atlético Malagueño putting pressure on the visitors and showing their superiority on the pitch.  In the 9th minute of play, a collision between Ernesto Cornejo and the rival keeper, Hugo, resulted in the latter sustaining an injury, forcing another player to take his place as there was no substitute goalkeeper.
Deco scored the first goal following a great pass from Alberto López.  With the score board at 1-0, the game soon turned into a one-team show for Salva Ballesta’s boys.  The second goal came just two minutes later from Mula, 30 metres away from the target, with the player about to become one of the stars of the first half.  In minute 36, following a Falu Aranda assist from the right wing, Mula put the locals 3-0 up.  In the 45th minute, the fourth goal came from Álex Portillo with a powerful shot which was impossible for the rival keeper to prevent.  During extra time before the half-time whistle, Mula scored a hat-trick and the team’s fifth goal of the match.
Salva Ballesta brought on Pablo and Zalea in the second half, in place of Kuki and Falu Aranda.  The match continued in the same way, with the Blue and Whites’ reserve team giving the rival another shock with a close call from Paul.  However Zalea scored goal number six after 61 minutes, taking advantage of a defence error in the goal area following a free kick.
Atlético Malagueño dominated every aspect of the game.  A penalty awarded due to a foul on Alberto López was taken by Ernesto Cornejo, who put the home side 7-0 in the lead.  In the final minutes of play, CD Español del Alquián, who had two players sent off, decided to abandon the match, forcing the referee to blow the final whistle ahead of time.
With this massive first victory of the season, the ‘Malaguistas’ are optimistic ahead of forthcoming matches, and move away from the bottom of the table.
