Genaro, Malaguista until 2024

Genaro Rodríguez has extended his relationship with Málaga Club de Fútbol for another two years, meaning his contract with the Blue and White entity ends in the 23/24 season.

The versatile player from Sevilla, who arrived on a free transfer last summer from CD Mirandés, has signed his new contract at La Rosaleda Stadium’s offices, accompanied by sporting director, Manolo Gaspar.

Genaro Rodríguez Serrano (Gerena, Sevilla, 1998) is completing his first season in the Málaga CF ranks. His official Malaguista debut was on matchday 1 of LaLiga SmartBank 21/22, against his former team Mirandés, on 16th August 2021 at La Rosaleda.

He was a regular in the starting-11 in the first part of the season, forming a double pivot in the wide area almost always alongside Alberto Escassi. In addition, Genaro scored two consecutive goals on matchdays 12 and 13 of the competition, the first worth +3 points during Málaga-Lugo that ended in a 1-0 win at Martiricos.

Unfortunately, injury left the number ‘16’ out of action in January for just over two months. With his return to the pitch, in the recent #GironaMálaga clash, and in the starting line-up against Real Valladolid with new coach Guede making his debut, we once again saw his hard work and commitment in midfield.

Up to now, Genaro has played 20 matches with MCF (14 in the starting-11 and 12 full games), scored two goals in LaLiga SmartBank, and played two Copa del Rey matches. His fighting ability, defensive intensity and arrivals will be at the service of our first team until 2024.

Thank you for continuing to give your all with us, Genaro. Congratulations on your renewal!
