Good gameplay and goals with no reward (3-2)

Málaga CF suffered a minimal defeat against Real Madrid on LaLiga Santander matchday 13. Rolan and Chory scored the Malaguista goals. Benzema, Casemiro and Ronaldo netted for the Whites.

The match kicked off with dominance by the locals, who took the lead with a goal from Benzema nine minutes in (1-0). Málaga began to stretch themselves following the Madrid goal, although this push didn’t translate into goal opportunities. Carvajal generated another clear chance following a cross, but Roberto managed to deflect the shot. Recio sent out a warning with a strong ball from in front of the area, and a minute later, in 17’, came the equaliser. A superb goal from Rolan following a sensational assist by Keko (1-1). However, the joy was short-lived. Three minutes later, Madrid scored a second goal, the work of Casemiro following a corner (2-1). It was a game of back and forth. Chory Castro was on the brink of netting an equaliser, aiming to convert another great pass from Keko, although the ball was repelled by the rival defence. Ten minutes before the half-time whistle, a collision between Juankar and Lucas Vázquez ended with the Malaguista winger in the infirmary. Míchel brought on Baysse, and repositioned Diego González on the left wing. Roberto went on to make the save of the match. A close-range header from Cristiano that was stopped in its tracks by the Blue and Whites’ keeper.

The second half got underway without any changes on either team. Kross put a call out in minute 51 with a powerful shot in front of the target, which was again saved by Roberto. Two minutes later, Málaga’s replica arrived. A left-footer from Adrían that was saved twice by Casilla. First the warning, then the leveller. Another assist from Keko and a 30-metre shot from Chory made it all square on the scoreboard. Míchel made a substitution in 60’, introducing Borja in place of Peñaranda. Five minutes later, Keko gave his place to Juanpi. The Málaga lads continued to press for victory, but it was Madrid that got the next goal, this time the turn of Cristiano Ronaldo. The penalty was initially saved by Roberto, but the Portuguese striker scored from the rebound. The Malaguistas kept insisting until the last minute, but didn’t manage to equalise (3-2).
