Fábio Ricardo Gomes Fonseca, known in the football world as Fábio Espinho, began his career with FC Porto, joining in 2004/05 to play with the reserve team in Portugal’s Second Division.  After two years of training in one of the best clubs in Portugal, Espinho became part of his home team, Sporting Espinho, where he remained for three seasons, playing 85 official matches, highlighting his goal-scoring ability in 2008/09 with nine goals.
His good performance with his home team opened the doors to Leixoes in 2009/10, where he made his First Division debut in Portugal, playing 18 official matches and scoring one goal.  Following the team’s relegation to Second Division, Espinho signed to Moreirense FC in 2011/12 and was back in the top category.
In 2013/14, Fábio Espinho signed to PFK Ludogorets Razgrad, a young club, but one that has become one of the best in the League in Bulgaria in recent years.  During his debut year the team won the League, Cup and Supercup, and Espinho was a standout player, taking part in 54 official matches, scoring twice.  During his last season with the Bulgarian club, in 2014/15, Espinho was part of the UEFA Champions League, playing the six games within the group (Real Madrid, FC Liverpool and FC Basel), as well as the six qualifying matches.
