Coach Héctor Díaz named the following starting XI at Castillo del Romeral: M. Arrabal; Encarni, Jeni L., Yoli Peche, M. Farfán (C); Andrea Ríos, Noemi; Yessenia, Andrea Herr., Alicia; Futu. L. Herrera, Águeda, Arantxa, Belén and Valeriano also featured in the second half.
After a couple of early warnings, Málaga took the lead with their third attack down the right flank. Yessenia beat the opposing goalkeeper one-on-one to score the opener (0-1, 5’). The young homegrown player is in excellent form.
The home side, resilient throughout, did not back down and even created some danger from set pieces. Arrabal, very assured, dealt confidently with the Canary side’s isolated attempts. MCFF, with Andrea Ríos commanding the midfield, pushed for a second goal, as Alicia and Yessenia were lively on the flanks.
In the 26th minute, a long-range strike from Noemi clipped the island side’s crossbar. In the closing stages of the first half, there were few notable chances in either box, and the teams went into the break with the score at 0-1.
After the restart, Málaga showed their superiority from the very first moment. Several dangerous attacks hinted at a second goal, which eventually came in the closing stages of the match.
Alicia, the team’s top scorer, made no mistake on a lethal counterattack down the left (0-2, 73’). Shortly after, Arantxa returned to action after recovering from injury. The number 10, moments after coming off the bench, scored with a stunning goal (0-3, 78’).
Juan Grande’s consolation goal was scored by Flopi (1-3, 82’), but didn’t affect another victory for Málaga CFF.
The Malaguistas remain in second place in Group 3 of the Segunda Federación, reaching 38 points and sitting provisionally five behind the leaders, and their next league opponents, Sportextremadura CD. Vamos, Málaga!
