Duda: "Villarreal are in a misleading position"

Málaga Club de Fútbol’s Portuguese midfielder, Duda, held a press conference in La Rosaleda, moments before the Blue and Whites left for Villarreal ahead of their 33rd BBVA League match.

Statements from Duda

(Team) "We’re really pleased to be in this position, but we’re fully aware that we need to keep fighting till the end.  The final is going to be tough, and it’ll be hard to maintain this position.  We need to forget our victory on Monday and be completely focused on tomorrow’s difficult game.  We’ll need to fight harder than we did on Monday to get the three points and to stay in this League position”.

(Villarreal) "We’ll play like we always do tomorrow, trying to dominate the match from the very first minute in our fight for the three points.  We’re working well as a team, and I hope it goes as well as other matches.”
“They’re in a misleading position.  Villarreal have got a brilliant team and great players, but happen to be further down the table.  We’ve got a lot of respect for them as a team, and thought they’d get to Europe from the start of the season, but now they’ve got other objectives.  We’ve got a difficult 90 minutes ahead of us, and we’ll both be fighting for points”.

(Team performance) "It has always been our plan to qualify for Europe.  We knew from the start that we’re all important in this team, and it’s a long season.  Now with the various injuries and other situations we’ve experienced, everyone is fighting till the end, with every player showing why they’re in this team”.

(Bicentennial) "I’m so proud.  It’s not easy to have played 200 matches with a team, but I have to thank the fans for their support, and everyone who congratulated me on Monday.  I’ll keep playing as well as I can and hope we continue on the same path”.
