Duda goes in search of talent at Málaga CF’s Academy
Sergio Paulo Barbosa Valente, ‘Duda’ joins the technical organisation of grassroots football to put all of his experience to use for the good of Málaga Club de Fútbol’s youth ranks.
Another iconic Malaguista joins the Club, following the recent incorporation of Antonio Tapia to the Academy. Portuguese by birth and Malagueño by adoption, Duda will take on the role of scouting for players within the grassroots organisational structure. He will be seeking out talent for the 11-a-side teams, that is, from the ‘infantil’ category up to the ages corresponding to the reserve team.
As a player, Duda spent 13 years with the Blue and Whites’ first team, playing the most games in MCF’s history (349), and the Club’s third highest goal-scorer in the First Division with 35 goals. The midfielder formed part of the team that won UEFA’s Intertoto Cup in 2002, and the Málaga that reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League in 2012/13, as well as representing the Club with Portugal in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
A true star, who has already started working within grassroots football, joins other former Blue and Whites’ players who convey a feeling and values within the Academy and Málaga CF first team.
