Defeat with numerical disadvantage against Madrid CFF ‘B’ (3-1)

Málaga CF Femenino suffered a defeat on Madrid soil on matchday 17 of Group 2 in the Segunda Federación. Farfán's red card with the score tied proved to be a decisive moment.

Sunday afternoon at the Antiguo Canódromo saw a sparse crowd in the stands. On the pitch, Héctor Díaz's starting-11 consisted of María Arrabal, Encarni, Águeda, Mérida (©), Farfán, Noe, Yessenia, Valeriano, Arantxa, Bertuchi, and Alicia. Substitutes Salvador, Andrea Herrero, Kruijthof, Futu, and Félicité entered the game in the second half.

The Blue and Whites nearly took the lead early on. In the 5th minute, Encarni unleashed a powerful shot that struck the crossbar and bounced just outside the goal line. However, it was the home team that struck first. Leyre beat Arrabal shortly after the first quarter of an hour (1-0, 17’).

MCFF remained competitive in the match, and their efforts were rewarded with an equaliser midway through the first half. Bertuchi delivered a stunning strike that found the back of the net (1-1, 33’).

After the break, a pivotal moment shaped the course of the match. In the 57th minute, María Farfán was sent off by the referee after receiving her second yellow card. Playing with a numerical disadvantage took its toll on Málaga, and Madrid CFF’s reserve team capitalised, with Leyre scoring her second goal late in the game (2-1, 83’).

In stoppage time, following a defensive lapse by the Malaguistas, Candela scored the third goal for the Madrid side (3-1, 94’). The victory and the points remained in the Spanish capital.

After 17 matchdays, Málaga CF sit in 7th place in the standings with 24 points. In the next league fixture, they will host UD Costa Adeje Tenerife Egatesa ‘B’ at the Ciudad Deportiva Fundación MCF.
