Dely Valdés: “I’m extremely proud of the boys’ hard work”
The Juvenil DH coach analyses his team’s performance in the Copa de Campeones following the final of the competition: “I congratulated them, they’ve had a great tournament”.
Even final
“They were somewhat more far-reaching than us, which is something to admire as we had the advantage in numbers for a lot of the game. During the 90 minutes, the match was even. We had the odd chance to get on the scoreboard. During extra time, you could notice the physical aspect more. We should congratulate Real Madrid, as they are worthy winners”.
Good work in the final
“Are we disappointed? No. I don’t think we played a bad match. If I analyse the match properly, with a cool head, we had the clearest goal opportunities during the 90 minutes. I cannot be disappointed with the team, they worked well throughout the game. The rival scored the goal in the end, but I could never be disillusioned with what the team have done”.
A great image in the Copa de Campeones
“I congratulated them, they’ve had a great tournament. This must be taken into account as the guys have worked hard for something that they didn’t manage to achieve, but this doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be praised for what they’ve done”.
Guarantee for the future
“With these players, there’s a great future in Málaga. If we look back to previous youth championships, today there are players who are enjoying playing a lot of minutes in the First Division; Pablo Fornals, En-Nesyri…We’ll certainly see some of these players competing in the First Division in the future”.
Proud of the squad
“As coach of this team I’m extremely proud of the boys as they gave their all. In the first match, in the second and in the final they gave everything they had. The coach has to be proud of them”.
