Miguel Ángel Garrido Cifuentes (Zújar, 1990), whose contractual relationship with the Entity was due to end on 30th June, has renewed for another three years with Málaga Club de Fútbol.

The right-back, who trained within the Elche CF youth ranks, arrived in Málaga midway through the 2015/16 season from Girona FC. The following year, on loan to Girona, he achieved an historic promotion to LaLiga Santander. In 17/18 he was again loaned out in the silver division, in the second round of that year, to Albacete Balompié.

It was in the 2018/19 season when ‘Cifu’ consolidated within the Blue and White first team, becoming a regular fixture. His physical presence, speed and display on the right wing saw him in the starting line-up in a total of 25 games (2.111 minutes) in LaLiga 1|2|3, including scoring two superb goals that led to victories against RCD Mallorca (1-2) and Real Oviedo (3-0).

His professionalism and performance every day, together with a healthy competition with homegrown player, Iván Rodríguez (also contracted until 2021/22), ensures good health in the position of number ‘2’ for the next few years. Congratulations, Cifu!
