Chory named MVP of #MCFvLUD

Gonzalo ‘Chory’ Castro is chosen by Malaguista fans as MVP in Málaga-Levante, which ended in a 3-1 win for the Blue and Whites.

Ambition and hard work

“This is what we’re aiming for, staying in eighth place.  We must remain ambitious until the end and keep working hard, so that our work all year leaves us with a good feeling, knowing that we’re doing a good job ahead of next season.  This is what we showed today, against a rival fighting for permanency.  We needed to win as we hadn’t done so in five games, to continue to believe in our ability to claim eighth place.”

Initial goal, key

“It was essential for us to gain the advantage.  We knew that if we took the lead, Levante would need to go all out to get a result; they needed the three points for survival, but in the end we took advantage of the spaces.”

Uruguayan connection

“I’m delighted that Fede (Ricca) is gaining confidence; as a newcomer it’s not easy to adapt to this style of football, but he’s showing his personality and character as a great footballer.  From a personal aspect I’m happy with this match, and the fact I played for 90 minutes again, plus I’m thrilled with the goal that helped us to gain the three points.”

Wanting more

“They had opportunities and the rival goalkeeper performed very well in the two previous occasions they created.  Goal?  I gave my all and luckily the ball went in, and the feeling of scoring for the first time with Málaga is fulfilled.  Now I’m going for more; I don’t just want one goal, so I’ll keep working hard and if it’s not goals, then I want to assist my teammates to score.”

Man of the Match

“I’m grateful to the fans for choosing me.  My work also depends on my teammates and today the team showed character, we’re eager and we’re not a team that is easy to beat.  We invite the fans to continue to support us, we’ve got an away game coming up and the last match of the season at home, so we’ll see you there”.
