Charles began his footballing career in his birth country, Brazil.  After forming part of Santos and Tuna Lusa, he was signed by CD Feirense in 2001/02 in Portugal’s Second Division, achieving promotion to the First Division.
In 2004/05 he moved to Spain to play with Pontevedra CF, where he stayed for six seasons.  His success here saw him move to Córdoba CF (Second Division), for two years, scoring 23 goals.  In 2012/13, Charles signed to UD Almería, under current ‘Malaguista’ coach, Javi Gracia.  The Brazilian striker was a key player in the team’s return to the BBVA League, having scored 32 goals (27 in the ‘Adelante’ League and five in the BBVA League promotion play-offs).  Given his strong performance with Almería, in 2013/14 he was signed by Real Club Celta de Vigo where he has been for the past two years, playing 62 official matches and scoring 16 goals.
