Brašanac adds work rate and balance to the Blue and White midfield

The Serbian midfielder joins Málaga CF on a free transfer and signs for the current 2025/26 season, with an option for one more, after playing 250 matches in Spanish football.

Darko Brašanac, born on 12th February 1992 in the town of Čajetina (Serbia), is a central midfielder with a long career in the Spanish league. An experienced player who provides work rate and balance in midfield, technically gifted and with a clean distribution of the ball.

He began his professional football journey with one of the historic clubs of his native Serbia, Partizan Belgrade, where he played from the 2009/10 to the 2016/17 seasons, with a loan spell at Smederevo in 2011/12. During this first spell in the Balkans, he made a total of 142 appearances across league, cup, and European competitions. He closed this stage with 13 goals and 9 assists, winning five Serbian league titles and two Serbian cups with Partizan Belgrade.

In 2016/17 he began his uninterrupted spell in Spanish football, and he will now reach his 10th season wearing the Blue and White shirt. His first stop was Real Betis, where he played 26 domestic matches, scoring once and providing one assist. In 2017/18 he went out on loan to CD Leganés, making 28 appearances and helping the Madrid-based side secure survival in the First Division with two goals. The following season he was also loaned out, this time to Deportivo Alavés, where he again helped the team stay in the top flight, playing 24 league matches and two more in the Copa del Rey. From 2019/20 until the winter transfer window of 2023/24, he spent four and a half seasons with CA Osasuna, where he featured in 121 official games, tallying six goals and four assists from his role in midfield.

In the last season and a half, he played for CD Leganés, with whom he earned promotion to the elite in 2023/24, making 15 appearances, and completing his spell with the Pepineros with one goal and three assists in LALIGA EA SPORTS 2024/25.

Brašanac now joins Málaga CF after finishing his contract with Leganés, bringing with him a well-regarded career in Spanish professional football backed by 250 appearances. A tireless midfielder, he will put all his experience at the service of Sergio Pellicer’s team.
