Blood and bone marrow drive is a huge success!

The MCF Foundation enjoyed a massive collection of donations at the Martiricos facilities, with nearly 500 blood transfusions. The Club gave fans who attended two tickets for Sunday’s game.

After several seasons of a forced stoppage due to the COVID-19 outbreak, this solidarity day returns and Malagista fans didn’t disappoint. La Rosaleda once again became the headquarters of the Regional Centre for Blood Transfusion of Málaga (CRTS).

Malaguistas are used to showing a good example of their solidarity by donating a large quantity of blood to the banks of our province. The work of Pablo Ráez, conveying and making visible the importance of donating blood and bone marrow, has permeated the Costa del Sol and now, in a situation where around 250 daily donations are needed to keep up with demand, the Blue and White fans are once again crucial.

Today some 500 people passed through La Rosaleda to selflessly give their Blue and White blood. Before the mid-afternoon break, about 250 donations had already been registered by the CRTS. Due to this high influx, the number of stretchers had to be increased to attend to the fans who were queuing around the stadium. “It has surprised us. We didn’t expect the avalanche of fans and Malagueños who want to help. We’re super happy,” said Emilio Alonso, medical coordinator of the Transfusion, Tissues and Cells Centre of Málaga.

Málaga CF wanted to thank all these fans for their gesture with two tickets for the game on Sunday, when La Rosaleda will host FC Cartagena. José Antonio del Río, a Malaguista season ticket holder, told us he has been donating for “25 years. We need to do it as there’s a lack of blood, and the Club appreciates everyone’s help by offering match tickets so that more people come to the stadium,” he said to MCFTV.

As well as the Blue and White fans, the Entity was widely represented on this day. Kike Pérez, who spoke to the media present at the event, and José María Muñoz both donated. In addition, after the first team's morning training session, Sergio Pellicer and his coaching team also headed to the VIP area, where the entire CRTS operation was carried out, to join the solidarity initiative.

“Thanks to the Foundation for organising this initiative, we’re here to do our bit. It’s an honour to see the queues of people who arrived first thing this morning. We’re happy and proud that this act has had such a good reception, as it always does, for the fans, the city and the province,” Kike Pérez said in his speech.

There was also representation from MCFF. Ruth, captain of the women's first team, went along with her teammates Farfán and Yoli after training. “It’s a wonderful initiative. People are responding and we are very happy with the number of people who have come here,” stated the defender.

Pablo Ráez’s legacy lives on at La Rosaleda. Siempre Fuerte!
