Betis-Málaga preview

Málaga CF is to take on Real Betis Balompié in the 12th BBVA League match. The Blue and Whites do so being in sixth place on the table with 16 points, whilst the ‘Béticos’ occupy 12th place with 12 points.

Málaga faces a team that is trying to come back from six consecutive defeats after what was a great start with four wins, and at one time they were the momentary leaders of the championship.  The Malaguista squad has only ever won once against Betis in the Benito Villamarín in the 2008/2009 season, when the Sevilla side was then relegated to the Second Division.

Málaga will be trying to reverse the results of their previous two away games when they ended up with ten men on the pitch and they conceded some early goals in the games against Levante and Rayo Vallecano.

In the Green and Whites squad there are some old acquaintances, including the goalkeeper Iñaki Goitia, the defender Nacho Pérez and the right winger, Juanma.  Pepe Mel’s men, despite racking up a string of bad results recently, always play a great game and are strong in attack based on a flexible 1-4-3-3, especially when faced with leaving the elite league of Spanish football.

It’s a highly-anticipated Andalusian Derby of sporting rivalry on the pitch and friendliness in the stands, where a great number of followers and supporters will be cheering on their team, a team who are currently in ‘UEFA’ positions.
