Baysse reinforces the Málaga CF defence

Paul Baysse joins the Club with a contract that extends until the 2019/20 season, plus another optional year. The French central defender, from Ligue 1 side, OGC Nice, successfully passed the medical exam at Vithas Salud Rincón Medical Center Rosaleda.

Career

Born in Bordeaux on 18th May 1988 (29 years old), he grew as a footballer at FC Girondins, beginning his career in the youth ranks of his home town team, between 2000 and 2007. Subsequently, he joined Ligue 2 team, CS Sedan (2007-10) before kicking off his long career in Ligue 1. With Stade Brest (2010-13), and the historic AS Saint-Étienne (2013-15) he consolidated his position in the elite of French football, before signing to Nice.

Thriving in Nice

Baysse’s last two seasons have been the most outstanding in terms of results and personal performance. In 2015/16, he was a key player in OGC Nice reaching 4th place in the League, and qualification to the UEFA Europa League, whilst in the recently completed 2016/17 season, he assisted his team to climb a step further, ending in 3rd place behind the all-powerful Monaco and PSG. The former Nice captain accumulated 52 matches (49 in the starting line-up), scoring two goals in his last two years in the French competition.

A tall defender (1’85 metres in height), of quality and experience, he has also been an international in the lower categories of the French national squad.
