An excellent match for Nati Gutiérrez’s girls at the IMD Miralbaida against Córdoba CF, on matchday 13 of Group Sur ‘A’ in the Reto Iberdrola.
Málaga kicked off (above image) with Lucía in goal, a defence made up of Encarni and Ale on the wings, captain Ruth and Candela in midfield; upfront, on the double pivot were Andrea Ríos and Tati; on the wings, Gabi and Edna, with María Ruiz alongside striker, Claudia Jiménez.
It was Claudia who opened the scoring with an impressive run down the left leading to an unstoppable finish (0-1, 8’). In regard to the locals, former Malaguista forward Celia Ruano was active, however it was MCFF that scored the next goal. A powerful shot from Edna slammed into the back of the net (0-2, 33’).
During their only goal opportunity of the first half, Córdoba narrowed the gap with an extraordinary Olympic goal from Aina Torres just before half-time (1-2, 45’).
In the second half, Blue and White ‘pichichi’ María Ruiz scored a psychological, and ultimately, definitive goal for a well-deserved win (1-3, 51’). Málaga knew how to contain the rival without too much haste in the second half, showing poise and punch to claim three highly important points.
The second consecutive away win and the fifth without defeat for this team, unbeaten in the second half of the competition and bursting with morale in the final part of the first phase of the 20/21 season. Congratulations girls!
